Rider Friendly Marketing

On occasion when I'm speaking about my travels through Appalachia, I'll mention communities that are "rider friendly," that is, communities actively marketing themselves to motorcyclists. Invariably that will prompt someone to comment "Who wants a bunch of bikers running through their community?"

My answer is simple. Anyone who wants more tourists aged forty to sixty with a significantly higher than average median income and the time to spend it.

Forward-thinking communities realize that motorcyclists never had anything in common with Hollywood's stereotypical "bad biker" image. Instead, they have discovered quite the opposite--motorcyclists are often accomplished individuals and couples with ample time and money to pursue leisure interests such as travel.

Motorcyclists are looking for a few good reasons to come riding through your region with their dollars, but it takes more than scenic highways and blue-plate specials to become a true motorcycling destination.

That rumble you hear is the sound of cash registers.

Are You Ready to Rumble?
This presentation covers the fundamental concepts of what it means to be a rider friendly community. If your region is considering a program to attract more motorcyclists, this is a great way to explore the topic in an inexpensive way. Contact me to schedule a date.
