Dale Coyner was introduced to motorcycles the way many guys meet their wife, through a friend at work.
Exploring the countryside on his first ride, a Yamaha Radian, opened his eyes to the uniqueness of the region Dale's family has called home for generations. Dale takes pride in introducing others through his writing to the wealth of beauty, culture, history and great roads the Appalachians have to offer.
Although he has ridden far and wide, Dale figures he has racked up over 75,000 miles exclusively on the backroads and byways of the Appalachians. His current ride is a Honda GL-1800.
In his day job, Dale is a corporate webcasting pioneer and industry expert. During an eleven year career at Ernst & Young, he specialized in applying new communication technologies to applications for adult education. He produced the firm's first webcasts in 1995 and introduced the firm to web conferencing in 1997.
In 1999, Dale founded Communicast, Inc. where he was the chief architect and developer of Communicast Event Center, an award-winning webcast system. Following the company's acquisition, he founded ePlay, Inc., a company that produces feature-rich on-demand webcasts.
Dale has extensive experience writing on non-fiction business and leisure topics. Motorcycle Journeys Through the Appalachians is a critically-acclaimed travel resource now in its second edition. His feature articles have appeared in Network World, Meeting News, Expert Magazine, Effective Meetings, EntreWorld, Motorcycle Consumer News, Motorcycle Times and others.
Dale is also recognized as an entertaining public speaker. He has shared with many his enthusiasm for motorcycling and his adventures in the Appalachians through computer-based and live presentations.
When he isn't riding or tending a startup, Dale enjoys jazz, old time radio shows and playing bass guitar. Dale, his wife, two kids, two cats, two fish, tortoise and innumerable sea monkeys reside in Herndon, Virginia.
