This is the trip that started it all. Thursday, January 3rd, 1991. A six day run to Vero Beach, Florida. That’s my buddy Dave Morton on the left on a Kawasaki EX-500. I’m on the right in my “Michelin Man” rainsuit on the Yamaha Radian.

Hightown
Located at the intersection of Blue Grass Valley Road and US 250 in Highland County. Looking east on US 250 toward Monterey Mountain.
Appalachia City Hall
The old city hall in Appalachia, Virginia. A bit overgrown and a little spooky, even in broad daylight. You have to wonder what manner of events transpired here during the boom times.
Blantyre Road
A nice little short cut between Broad Run, VA and Warrenton, VA. Allows you to skip congested portions of US 29 on your way to Skyline and points west of the DC metro region.
Snowy Mountain Road
One of my favorite “unpublished” rides is along Snowy Mountain Road between Virginia and West Virginia. You’ll find it right off of US 220 near the VA/WV border. It runs over to WV 28. Not all that long of a road but just quiet and gorgeous.
Skyline Spring
